Hopefully this FAQ list will answer your questions about Sugar Plum Creative!

But as always, contact me if you have any questions this doesn’t cover.  I’m here for YOU!

Why do you send a Questionnaire?

Because I want to get to know you better! Also, so I can tailor the session and any props to you. Your experience during the session is just as important as the final images that result.

Why do you do Consultation or Connection Calls for brand sessions?

So we can talk (in-person, zoom, or by phone) about your expectations before your session, what you want to capture, and to create a plan of execute for the session day. Having a plan in place knowing the types of images to capture makes the whole process easier with less stress & anxiety.

Why do you schedule Strategy Calls?

Once your session is booked, we need to go over all the details of what you want to capture, how we’ll do it, and everything in between to bring your vision to life! Regardless if you book a Portrait or Brand Session, there’s a lot of details to cover!

Why do you send a Session Agreement (contract)?

The contract is for both our records as it specifies the date, time, location, and payment details, and covers what happens if there is inclement weather or an unexpected cancellation or if the session needs to be re-scheduled, as well as post-session time frames.

The contract is an electronic document sent via email, and you simply sign it digitally (type your name) as the approving signature, and you will submit it back to me. Please read the contract carefully and if you do not understand any point in it, please contact me for clarification.

Why do I pay a Deposit?

Some sessions are pay-in-full and some sessions require a deposit to complete the booking process. The deposit officially reserves the date + time for your session with Sugar Plum Creative, meaning that no one else can be booked that day.

Since the deposit is non-refundable, we would re-schedule your session if we cannot adjust the time for the same day. Please note: there is an additional deposit required for last-minute cancellations & no-shows to be rescheduled.

Why do you send Session Reminders?

In case you forgot to note the session on your calendar, or if you have a balance due and the session date is approaching, I want to keep you up-to-date on the status of your session. This also provides opportunity to communicate any schedule conflicts that may have come up in the meantime. Let me know if you prefer text or email reminders.

Can I pay the Invoice Balance on the day of the session?

Unfortunately, no.

Portrait Session balances are due 14-days before the session date.

Brand Session balances are due 21-days before the session date. *Exception: Monthly Subscriptions + Annual Packages with payment plans

If something comes up causing a late payment, communicate it immediately to make arrangements.

What are the accepted forms of Payment?

Cash — Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) — Debit Card (Visa, MasterCard) — PayPal

Venmo and CashApp are not accepted

Why do you use Trello for session planning?

Because it’s AMAZING!! Literally the only answer. EVERYTHING you need is within your session’s Trello board! Session date + time, location, the session flow + what to expect, and the login to access your invoice + contract is the obvious content.

The bonuses: location suggestions for outdoor + indoor options, all the professional cosmetic referrals, Pinterest links for inspiration, a place to note props + add photos of your outfits. I love seeing what you’re going to wear, just in case I have a prop or accessory to bring!

How do I pay for Makeup + Hair Services?

Portrait Sessions do not include services, however clients will receive referrals for professional makeup artists, hair stylists, and other service providers to prepare for sessions. All services are booked by the client directly with the service provider, and payment is made to provider.

Brand Sessions + Packages include professional makeup +hair styling services in which Sugar Plum Creative is responsible for handling the booking and payment process. See Brand Sessions for details. Headshot + Micro Brand Sessions do not include professional services.

What happens if the WEATHER does not cooperate for outdoor sessions?

We will re-schedule (adjust the time same day, or select a new date) if we are not able to move indoors. Changing location may cause the session to run long, but at no additional charge.

What happens if I (the client) need to Re-Schedule the session?

As soon as you know you need to re-schedule, contact me to make arrangements: call, text or email. Give as much notice as you can – cancellations within 48-hours and no-shows can be re-scheduled but may be subject to an additional deposit. If a studio is rented for your session, there may be additional studio costs. Please review the details in your contract, as re-scheduling fees may vary.

What happens if you (SPC) need to Re-Schedule the session?

As soon as I know I need to cancel due to illness or emergency, I will text or call you, followed up with an email. The session will be re-scheduled at no additional cost to you.

In the event that a studio is booked for your session, SPC will cover any cost of re-booking if the reservation cannot be re-scheduled.

For Brand Sessions, I will work to re-schedule makeup + hair styling services as well.

What does ‘Edited’ mean?

I create + craft images with an artistic touch. Portrait images are emotive, full of richness + memories, while Brand images are edited to match the brand vibe + energy.

The Standard: blemish removal, balance skin tones, even lighting + shadows, retouch skin, brighten eyes and teeth, and artistic + color enhancements.

I DO NOT alter the physical appearance creating a new, downsized, or reshaped person. (yes, I’ve been asked!) I just enhance your beauty as it is, and the bring out the emotions in the image.

What is a ‘Composite Edit‘?

A composite edit is when two or more images are combined into a single image. This can be used if someone is blinking and eyes are swapped out from another image (which is fairly common), altering the background or creating a layered final image with multiple images +even text (which is more advanced and is at an additional charge).
